Summary
Half of Canada’s manufacturing takes place in the Innovation Corridor, but congestion obstructs just-in-time production and the distribution of finished goods. This, in turn, drives manufacturing prices up, which is an issue as many international manufacturers find the Corridor to be the most expensive manufacturing jurisdiction in North America.
To address this problem, the Board has put together a series of reports that explore what infrastructure investments can best address the Region’s movement of goods. This report is the sixth of that series.
The projects that are discussed in this report include the Milton Logistics Hub, a “quick win” project that requires no public funding, as well as longer-term, multi-modal projects (i.e. large highway expansions such as the Bradford Bypass).
