Half of Canada’s manufacturing takes place in the Innovation Corridor, but congestion obstructs just-in-time production and the distribution of finished goods.
To address this problem, the Board has put together a series of reports that explore what infrastructure investments can best address the Region’s movement of goods. This report is the fifth of that series.
This report proposes three actionable ideas which would improve the movement of goods throughout the Innovation Corridor. These ideas are: expanding off-peak deliveries to save time and fuel; regional planning and coordination by a new regional council; and building lanes above or below the existing roadways on Highway 401 near Pearson International Airport.
