TRBOT officially welcomes Giles Gherson as President and Chief Executive Officer

“Since joining the Board in March of 2022, I’ve witnessed the incredible impact of our organization first hand,” said Gherson. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us to seize the economic opportunities within our region’s grasp by investing in productivity and the high paying jobs that go with it.”

In his new mandate as President and CEO, Gherson will lead TRBOT in the implementation of a new strategic plan, renewing our mission as a catalyst for a vibrant, globally competitive Toronto Region business community.  

“I look forward to continuing to build on what Jan has accomplished in her time as CEO," Gherson added. "I plan to work closely with our Board of Directors, executive team, and growing membership base to drive positive change for the business community.”

The Board also extends its sincere gratitude to Jan De Silva for her leadership over the past eight-and-a-half years. De Silva was instrumental in leading some of our most impactful projects, including the reactivation of the World Trade Centre, Toronto, co-founding the Canadian Global Cities Council, and spearheading the Reimagining Recovery Framework at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

More recently, De Silva has been an influential part of our move to our new waterfront facility at 100 Queens Quay East and a key spokesperson for the Board’s “What’s at Stake?” campaign during the Toronto mayoral by-election.
